Well, this John Carpenter series started back in 1978 but continued till now with various ups and downs and multiple reboots. The franchise has no less than 5 different timelines and storylines.

Back in the late 70s, when the first-ever “Halloween” movie was released, it flowed like any other slasher movie franchise. The main storyline continuity here is Michael Myers, concluding the franchise in 1995 with the movie “The Curse of Michael Myers.”
This storyline does not include 1982’s standalone release “Halloween III: Season of the Witch.” This movie does not deal with the events of Haddonfield, involving Michael Myers and Laurie Strode.

Ignoring the first three sequels that were created after “Halloween III” and then picked up with the actress Jamie Lee Curtis’s Laurie Strode, who now lives in a different town under a different name.
If you are someone who loves horror flicks, then you might like it, but eventually will be disappointed with “Halloween: Resurrection,” this movie picks up with dispatches of Laurie Strode after the events of “H20.”

The Rob Zombie Timeline
You can either love them or hate them’, but Rob Zombie’s “Halloween” movies stand out distinctively. His own timeline in 2007 is a remake of John Carpenter’s original film franchise. However, the series has a grittier and gory texture to give a clear experience of Michael Myers’s past.
The next movie in the series was “Halloween II,” which is much more interesting, and diverts from the original storyline of the first few movies and follows its own path. But these two movies have no continuity to any of the other storylines.

The Rebooted Jamie Lee Curtis Timeline
The modern 2018 reboot of the franchise brought a bolder storyline with Jamie Lee Curtis’s Laurie Strode. The storyline drifted from “Halloween II” which showed Michael Myers as Laurie Strode’s brother, making him a regular maniac.
In the reboot, he came back to Haddonfield, in Laurie’s life who is a PTSD-riddled survivor, and dreading Myers’s release from jail.
The 2021 movie” Halloween Kills” picked up right after the events of the 2018 movie “Halloween Ends” with a four-year time jump ahead.

The Season Of The Witch Timeline
And then there is the standalone movie “Season of the Witch,” with this movie the producers of the franchise tried to solidify the film series, “Halloween” as an anthology series of spooky movies. But the movies turned out to be lackluster, forcing the studio to bring back Michael Myers.
