After the slight disappointment after the streaming of Season 4, especially when Yellowstone Season 3 ended with a bang, Yellowstone Season 5 caught up to the demands of the audiences. The season came out in two parts, where the first part consisted of eight episodes, and the second part consisted of six. The first part came out on 13th November 2022 and ran till 1st January 2023.

“While the first four seasons of Yellowstone included nine and ten episode runs, they also logged ever 

bigger viewership numbers, so that by season four, the show was pulling down nine million pairs of eyes 

per outing. And all that’s done is give series co-creator Taylor Sheridan 14 big episodes to keep telling the 

Duttons’ story.” 

Basically, Yellowstone Season 5 started with John Dutton not only being the leader of the biggest ranch 

in the United States but also becoming the Governor of Montana. However, with more power comes 

more trouble. It is evident from the first episode of the season that the troubles will come from both 

inside and outside the family and the land that John has sworn to protect.  

Since this is a no-spoiler review, I will try not to give details of the story. Check it yourself whether you 

like it or not. However, you can see from the internet that although the ratings of the critics are quite 

good, the ratings from the audience have lowered quite a bit. People feel that the story has got boring 

now, and the series should have ended in the fourth season, especially after it leaped in Season 3 and 

Season 2. 

Regarding this, here is USAToday’s verdict of the series – “At a certain point the same old comfort food 

can get tired: Audiences hunger to try new flavors. “Yellowstone” hasn’t passed its expiration date yet, 

but the new episodes suggest that it is not a well that can be drawn from infinitely… the longer it runs, 

the greater the chance the series will lose its luster. Eventually, maybe soon, the sun has to set on the 

Yellowstone Dutton Ranch for a final time.”
